Packing 101 - Day 2
Woohoo! It's Day 2 of packing for our upcoming trip! If you missed Day 1, no worries, you can see it here to catch up and download the packing lists I put together for Adults and/or Babies.
I'll preface this post by saying that sweet little Abi Lou is teething something fierce - fever and everything :( Poor little booger just wants to spend most of the day sleeping on my chest. This is a perfect example of why I take 5 days to pack. Day 2 probably only takes me 15 minutes to complete. Even with Abilene needing more love today, I can realistically find that time. If her symptoms grow worse over the next few days, I will be incredibly thankful that I already have at least some of my packing done.
Ok! On to Day 2!
I usually use Day 2 to focus on toiletries. I have most of these items in a travel size so, for example, I can pack my travel sized contact solution and still be able to use my normal sized contact solution for the next 3 days before I leave. Face wash, q-tips, shampoo, conditioner, etc. I all have in travel sized amounts so they can be packed in a small bag and crossed off the list. I also have many travel sized toiletries for Abilene so I can start a small toiletry bag for her as well.
A note on shampoo and conditioner: I receive many free samples of shampoo and conditioner in the mail by following certain coupon blogs and websites (I can address more of that in a different post). Instead of using them in my home, I always save them for trips. The sample sized shampoos and conditioners are fantastic! They take up much less space than small bottles and I never have to worry about them exploding in my suitcase. I can also get two showers out of every sample so I bring as many samples as I'll need to get through the trip.
Even if you don't have doubles like that, the goal is simply to pack a few more things on your list. It doesn't matter if it's one thing or 15 things, it's still less that you'll have to pack the night before you leave.
Remember, it might not feel like you've done much but we're trying to create margin in our lives for us to be finished packing by day 5. So, in that sense, you've already done a lot! Visually, half the list is already "packed." Bring on Days 3, 4, and 5!
