The details...
Phew! Now that I got all my nervousness right out in the open, let's get on to why I started this thing:
My name is Brooke Varner and the husband (Brad) and I are about to embark on our next adventure. We've lived in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania since the day after our honeymoon 4 and a half years ago. We work for an amazing, non-profit organization called Young Life building relationships with high school kids and telling them (and hopefully showing them) about the love that Jesus has oh-so-lavished on us.
But! We are moving!
In just two short months, the husband and baby (Abilene) and baby on the way (insert name we don't know yet here) are moving to Saranac Lake, New York. Brad will be working at a Young Life camp and we'll both be continuing working with high school kids in the town as we do now.
I. Can't. Wait.
Brad and I met and got married at Saranac Village - the camp he's going back to work for. It's in the most beautiful place I've ever seen: the Adirondacks. I promise you that the blues up there are bluer and the greens up there are greener. I don't know how that's possible but I see it every time we drive up. Living up there has been a dream since we left and the good Lord is blessing us with the opportunity to go back!
There are so many exciting things about moving:
1) I have wanted to go on a new adventure for some time now. I absolutely cannot wait to start anew in a new place!
2) The community in Saranac Lake is unlike any I've ever seen. We really do consider our friends to be our family up there.
3) The Adirondacks is a National Park. Who friggin' gets to live in a National Park!?!
....um, we do :)
And there are a lot of scary things about moving:
1) The husband and I will be taking a pay cut. I thought we lived frugally already!
2) I will be having baby #2 in a hospital and with doctors I really don't know anything about.
3) I've never actually spent an entire winter there and the winters average below zero temperatures. Oh, and I grew up in Georgia... guess I should buy a few more layers (oh wait, we're taking a pay cut. Hmmm, how to get around this...).
4) We will be moving even farther away from Chick-fil-A (ok, so I know that doesn't really count as scary but I grew up in GA remember?).
I want to have a place to chronicle this new adventure for our family - hence, the blog. I have so many goals, dreams and aspirations that I'm just about to pop! My hope is that having a blog will give me a place to actually type out all those things while also creating a history of dreams, flops, surprises, accomplishments, bumps-in-the-road, and just about anything else life will throw at us.
It's February and we have two months to sell our house (we pray!), downsize our stuff, pack up that stuff, find a new place to live, prepare our current area for the husband's departure, prepare the new area for the husband's arrival, find new doctors for the new baby, and get ready to start a brand new job and a very different life!
Who's with me!?!
