The Hub's Manly Kid Carrier
So the hubs has wanted a kid carrier for hiking since the day we found out we were pregnant. Brad loves to hike and, now that we live in the Adirondacks, has been anxiously awaiting the day that he and his little babe can explore some trails together.
They don't look alike or anything. |
Brad's turning thirty real soon (like Saturday soon. You should send him messages of happiness on that day) and, as an early birthday gift, his parents bought him his coveted kid carrier.
I'm not gonna lie, it is pretty cool.
It's huge, it has a TON of sneaky little compartments to put stuff in and it can hold up to almost 50 pounds of weight. It's everything the hubs could have wanted plus a sun shield.
You had me at "sun shield". I ain't into skin cancer, people.
Brad wanted to "break it in a little" so we ("we" being Brad. I've had a kid carrier on the front of me for the past 8 months) used it for a walk around Mirror Lake.
Abilene seemed quite comfortable in it. Here she getting all strapped in.
Brad's coveted kid carrier with Brooke's coveted sun shield. |
I know it looks like she's reaching out for someone to save her from the kid carrier but I promise she's just waving at the strangers across the grass. She's nice like that.
Abilene's so curious about all that we do now, watching as the hubs got the rest of the carrier together...
Man, she loves them fingers. |
She's also super persistent. Abilene was trying to get the strangers across the grass to notice her so badly that she was smashing her face against the mesh.
Such a little ham. |
"Hellloooooo! Over heeeeere!" |
They finally saw her desperate waves. Seriously, I don't know where she gets it from. As a kid, I was so shy. I don't think I talked to another human soul until I was at least 8...
But we don't need to get into my childhood anxieties. I talk to people now, isn't that enough?
Don't answer that.
The walk started off really well. Abilene was diggin' her new digs but then it started to look like she was getting a little sleepy.
Then there were a few yawns...
And some heavier eyes...
Wait for iiiiit...
So close! |
Okay, so I know you guys have heard me say this before but napping is not Abilene's strong suit. She somehow manages to perform completely well on a daily basis under about half as much sleep as other children. You know those kids that will fall asleep mid-meal in their high chair? Abilene has never done anything crazy like that.
But seriously, look at this:
I. COULD. NOT. BELIEVE she had fallen asleep up there.
Poor little booger (my mom hates when I call her "booger") had no where to put her head but she was gone-zo.
Look at Brad's "Woman-quit-your-picture-taking!" face. I'm sorry, babe, but, being that I spend most of my day attempting to get Abilene to nap, I had to document this.
Abilene slept for almost the entire walk and she was still passed out when we finished...
The hubs was a fan of how the practice walk went and the sun-shield plus baby-put-to-sleep-er makes this mom give the Manly Kid Carrier two thumbs up!
Maybe I'll have to start wearing this thing around the house...
that is awesome!!!
