Whoopie Pies
So my good friend Megan just bought a house. It's crazy, everyone's buying houses up here. Anyway, she had a sweet painting party the other day and invited us to help.
Knowing that Abilene, Andrew and I would only do more harm than good in her house, I decided we would be more of a help by dropping off Whoopie Pies and ducking out before Abilene could leave her fingerprints on any of Megan's freshly painted walls.
Earlier that day, as I was making the Whoopie Pies, Abilene saw some of the finished product and definitely asked for a snack (well, "nak" as she says). I can't blame her - they're super good - but I just couldn't give that much sugar, chocolate and Crisco to a 17 month old. So I declined her request and pushed the plate of Whoopie Pies away from the edge of the kitchen table.
Well, between growing a little bit taller each day and Andrew needing his diaper changed, Abilene had just enough height and just enough time to snag a Whoopie top while I was out of the kitchen.
I love how she left the "nak" I did give her (an apple fruit crisp) and Andrew's sock as if those mementos would equal the cost of a Whoopie top... and the fact that she clearly dragged the top across the table to get it down.
I'm sure this will be the first of many, "Hey! How the heck did you...'s" but at least now I know how far back I need to place things on the kitchen table.

Like I wouldn't notice the chocolate crumbs on her face. |

Ohhh man she is hilarious. And the Whoopie Pies were delicious and the perfect thing to make us keep going :)
