WONDERING IF THIS WILL BE OUR LAST SNOW WITHOUT YOU

It's funny - going from two to three and not being pregnant.

I've been receiving 'congratulations' from people around town and, not to be silly, but I have to think twice before I respond.

Just yesterday, one of my dear friends said, "Congratulations on your new baby!" to me.

Standing next to a woman who is soon-to-be a grandmother, I politely corrected my friend - "Oh, not me," - and stepped to the side to allow the grandmother her due limelight.

"Wait, aren't you adopting?"

"Oh!" I said, slightly embarrassed.  "Well, yes!  Yes, I am," I replied (face reddening).

When I had a little momma belly, it was much harder to confuse people's congratulations.

The reality that life was going to look very different in a matter of months literally stared at me from the mirror while I was pregnant.

Not this time.

The process right now, even going through so much paperwork on a daily basis, seems surreal.

I think that will change when we know who our third will be.  But for now, the reality of our growing family comes in waves.

Like this morning.

Our spring was interrupted by a last minute snow shower yesterday.  Taking advantage of the perfect snowman building snow (a kind we don't normally have because it's usually too cold here for the snow to pack), Abi and Andrew built (hopefully) the last snowman of the season.

I couldn't help but think about the fact that there may just be another little snowsuit running around our yard by the next time it snows.

And, if that's true, I just might wish for snow to come a little sooner this year.
