HUGE FINANCIAL UPDATE!

This past week has been in.sane.  We received an influx of financial help over the last seven days that still has my jaw on the floor:

Between two very generous families and two very generous foundations, we are now just shy of 70% of our total fundraising goal!  AND: all our agency fees are officially paid for!  Like zero-balance, paid-in-full, nothing-to-see-here, paid for!

WHAT?!

I still can't believe it.  God is so good.

On our adoption funding page, you'll notice that we've now actually raised more than we've paid(!!)... so how does that work?

Great question!  The grants we most recently received are actually what tipped us from being in the red to being in the black (accountant-ly speaking) and those funds are in the hands of our adoption agency.  They will be set aside and used to help pay for travel to China when the time comes. 

Once China approves us for travel, things will move pretty quickly (at least that's what we've been told).  Travel will have to be paid for upfront, in full, and in some really big chunks (international flights for two people one way, three people on the way back, a two-week hotel stay, etc.) so it's important for us to keep fundraising towards that so we can be ready. 

The majority of our remaining adoption costs are estimates at this point because they are related to travel.  You can see a breakdown of those costs here. We won't know exactly how much we'll need until we actually book plans to go since flight prices and hotel prices can fluctuate.
