We are over the moon excited to announce that we've received a grant from Brittany's Hope!  Well, almost that is 😊

Brittany's Hope has generously awarded us a $6,000 grant(!), however, we must raise $3,000 in new funds given 'in Brittany's name' before we can receive it.

What does that mean? Well, it sounds like a matching grant (i.e. however much we raise, they will match) but Brittany's Hope is actually not a matching grant.  Brad and I will only receive the grant of $6,000 if we raise $3,000 in full.  So, for example, if we raise $3,000, Brittany's Hope will award us $6,000 but if we only raise $2,500 we will only receive $2,500.

How does Brittany's Hope work?  Brittany's Hope raises funds and works with adoption agencies to help lower the cost of international special needs adoptions specifically.  Brittany's Hope allots funds to our agency (and other agencies that they work with) on a biannual basis and, after applying, our agency chose us as one of the families to be able to benefit from this great help!

Instead of matching what we raise, Brittany's Hope seeks to pay it forward by allowing our fundraising efforts to help the next adopting family.  They also use their funds to provide for orphans' physical needs who are still waiting for a family; things like: formula for babies, surgeries for orphans, cribs, transitional housing for older orphans, and more.  The $3,000 we raise will go directly to Brittany's Hope to continue to fund new adoptions and current orphans' needs.

This is huge for us!

I know I haven't talked a ton about money in this whole process.  To be honest, I feel a little shy about it but I'm working on a post about adoption costs and I promise I'll muster up the courage to press 'Publish' after it's finished.  Our total adoption 'bill' will come to somewhere around $37,500.  To date, we've already paid $18,592 which means we're still looking to pay ~$18,908.  A grant of $6,000 would make a huge dent in that debt!
