On the market...

Our house is on the market (obviously) and we've had a few showings already! I know that the market hasn't been "good" in about... a long friggin' time so having a few showings period makes me really excited.

A tip I want to keep in my back pocket for our next house is using a photo of the space you're trying to decorate to help you decorate it.

Our realtor took pictures of our home to put on the internet and I INSTANTLY saw quick fixes that should have been done a long time ago. They were things I knew I wanted to do or needed to do but life hurries us along in such a way that those things get pushed to the bottom of the list. But for some reason, seeing (for example) our bedroom in a photo was all the motivation I needed to make changes that literally took less than an hour.

I have no idea why a photo had so much more power over my brain then when I'm standing in the room. Maybe it's because it so clearly did not look like anything I've ever seen in Better Homes & Gardens (my addiction of choice).

Now I'm not an interior decorator and I'm pretty sure the biggest design risks I've taken involve deciding on what pictures to pin on Pinterest but here's an after of our bedroom (I was going to show you a before picture but our realtor already replaced the before photo - dang, she's good!).

After (but imagine the before: a quilt that didn't match on the bed. shoe rack under the window, space heater on the right, and super cluttered bedside tables)

After (but imagine the before: clothes piled on top of the armoire and a crib where the laundry basket is)

I have a TON of dreams for the next home we have (thanks Pinterest). Maybe using photos of the rooms will help me decide on what to do with them!
