A dip in the lake
There's a saying up here in the Adirondacks that our good friend, Paul, likes to remind us of:
"The only people that try to predict the weather in the Adirondacks are fools and newcomers."
And it couldn't be more true.
Between April and May we've had waves up to the 80's and dips in the 30's. My iPod Touch has told me that that it was going to rain for 4 days straight without actually dripping a drop and the hubs and I have gone for walks that started with clear blue skies and left us coming home soaked.
Mountain weather is crazy.
It's not all that bad though, most of it can be rather refreshing and, in all honesty, even a wet Saranac is absolutely beautiful.
When the sun does shine though and the skies are blue, it's freaking GORGEOUS.
I did say "gorgeous," right?
Placid has a small public beach on Mirror Lake so, on gorgeous days like the one in that picture, we just have to stop and let Abilene get her own taste of it.
So far Abilene's a fan of water. She takes baths like a champ but a big lake can still be pretty intimidating.
The water's still a wee bit on the chilly side too but really not so bad considering it had ice on it a couple months ago!
Didn't seem to be a problem for Abilene though.
Put it in her mouth.
Oh my goodness, is this real life for us now?
It's going to be a great summer.

While she can't walk completely on her own yet, she's really so dern close! |

Look at those skinny, little chicken legs. |

Especially with her Daddy dipping her up and down in the water.
But let's be real. What does Abilene like to do with... well, everything?
Put it in her mouth.
